Rehabilitation
In the field of auditory rehabilitation the main emphasis is on fitting techniques. For EC-project HEARCOM we will design methods for interactive fitting of hearing aids that use direct search methods. In collaboration with the National Acoustics Laboratories (www.nal.gov.au), a project on trainable hearing aids is conducted. In addition, there are several projects that evaluate the effects of advanced signal processing in hearing aids, e.g. noise reduction and directionality. Usually, we apply a mixture of laboratory tests and field trials. Most collaborative work in the Netherlands is co-ordinated by the PACT Foundation (see www.pact.cc ). One of these projects deals with quality control in the hearing aid prescription process (in collaboration with the university of Maastricht and Erasmus University in Rotterdam, see www.azos.org ).
Within this theme we conduct the following projects:
- Evaluation of Noise Reduction in (digital) Hearing Aids
- AZOS-project: Modified care model for hearing impaired listeners (PACT)
- Classification of hearing aids in CLiQ (PACT)
- Interactive fitting of hearing aids (HEARCOM, WP6)
- Trainable hearing aids
- Evaluation of advanced hearing aid features
The following projects have been completed:
