Long-term results after stapes surgery in patients with otosclerosis

Researcher(s):    R.A. Tange, PhD., W. Grolman, PhD.

Aim:
A retrospective project of long-term results of the hearing function after stapes operation will be conducted. This study focuses in particular on the perceptive hearing thresholds and the conductive components pre- and postoperatively.

Method:
The patients operated between 1982 and 1990 in our hospital who have received a stapes prothesis have been evaluated retrospectively. The pre-operative and postoperative audiological data have been stored in a database. If necessary patients will be invited to have a new hearing test to asses the long-term effects of hearing after a stapes operation.

Results:
The data of 91 patients (out of a group of 157) have been included.
