Auditory profile
The projects within this theme cover a number of psychophysical tests, that have been developed to understand the supra-threshold behaviour of the ear for different auditory tasks in communication: e.g. speech perception, discrimination, spatial hearing. The projects are related to loudness perception, auditory filtering, and (the modelling of) speech perception. Some of the projects are part of the EC-project HEARCOM (see www.hearcom.info ) and aim to design a set of parameters that characterize the pathological ear with respect to daily-life auditory tasks.
Within this team we conduct the following projects:
- Sensorineural hearing loss and loudness perception
- Predicting the speech intelligibility under fluctuating background conditions
- Auditory filter measurements
- Auditory profile: spectral and temporal resolution (HEARCOM, WP2)
- Consonant confusions for filtered and consonant deteriorated nonsense VCV syllables (HEARCOM, WP2)
- Auditory localisation (HEARCOM, WP2)
- Dead Regions
